The B.M.S. Institute of Technology and Management (abbreviated as BMSIT&M), is a private engineering college in Bangalore, Karnataka, India affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. It was founded by B S Narayana, son of educationist B M Sreenivasaiah, and is managed by the B M S Educational Trust. It is the sister institution of B M S College of Engineering, a well established government aided engineering college in India. B M S Institute of Technology is recognized as a Research Centre by VTU. B M S Institute of Technology is located on SH-9, KA, a little distance away from Bangalore, in an open and sparsely populated and built area, known as Avalahalli.

Melton Foundation
The Melton Foundation was established in 1991 to build a worldwide community of talented people from diverse cultures capable of addressing global issues based on principles of open communication and mutual respect.
The core activities of the Melton Foundation are made possible through an endowment provided by William Melton and Patricia Smith Melton in partnership with five host universities located in Chile, China, Germany, India, and the United States.
Utsaha
Utsaha is the annual intra-collegiate symposium hosted by the college on its campus, in March or April every year. Several literary, cultural, academic and musical events are held, and the winners are duly rewarded.

Candidate should have Pass in 2nd PUC/12th Std/equivalent examination with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Obtained 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the following subjects:
Chemistry/Biology/ Biotechnology/Computer Science/Electronics.
In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and other backward classes( Category 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the
minimum marks for eligibility will be 40% in aggregate in optional subjects in qualifying examination.

The candidate seeking for admission under management quota, Eligibility criteria depends upon the
college / university norms.
The percentage require for admission varies from colleges to colleges strictly under management quota.

There are different types of Fees structure depending upon allocation of seats under respective quota. In Karnataka there are three types of fees structure, defined below.
CET – rs. 48000/- per year
COMEDK – rs. 1,86,000/- per year
Management Quota –
Fees as per branch is as follow-

- Mechanical Engineering = Rs. 3,50,000/- per year
- Civil Engineering = Rs. 2,50,000/- per year

Admissions in the Engineering courses is done through entrance examination. The admission to undergraduate programs is done through Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main).

Admissions through management / NRI quota.
All private colleges in India have some reserved seats allocated to them by the government defined as Management/ NRI quota.
These seats are given by the college on their own norms and eligibility. The colleges may charge capitation amount / development charges/ or increase in fees structure to give seats to deserving candidates. All colleges do have their own eligibility criteria, terms and conditions to give seats to respective students. The criteria and procedure varies from colleges to colleges.
** note-
Management/NRI quota is STRICTLY available only in private colleges. No government colleges is having Management/ NRI quota. Admission to the govt. colleges can done only through by clearing the entrance exams.
